Emulsifying Wax NF (Vegetable derived) is considered to be a safe main ingredient in making personal care products such as lotions and creams. It is extracted from fatty acids and ester isolation from plant oils.
Emulsifying Wax is typically supplied in white waxy pellets or flakes, and it has low odor. It is made from vegetable source fatty alcohols. However, it is not considered “all natural.” It combines the emollient, emulsifying, thickening properties of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. Emulsifying Wax can form extremely stable w/o or o/w emulsions. Emulsifying wax is used as a medium for making skin care products. It can blend oil and water in facial creams, body lotions, moisturizers and other skin care products. The ability of emulsifying wax to blend oil and water into a fine consistency is highly valued. If you don’t add any emulsifying agent to a mixture of oil and water, it will separate over time.
